The irony is so not lost on me that today is the official first day of summer...and this is my current state:
We went from the incredible high of our horseback riding adventure to the low of Chicklet tanking health-wise later that evening, and then bringing Daddy and I down with her (though to be fair, Daddy was feeling crummy a few days prior, so I might label him Patient Zero).
It’s a bummer to be sick in the summer—more so than any other time of year, I feel. Something about the outside heat plus a fever is just yuck. And uncomfortable. And there’s so much daylight all the time when you just want to coccon and rest.
It’s also a bummer that the hubby’s parents are here for a pre-scheduled visit, and though it’s nice to have extra hands when we’re not operating at full capacity, we can’t exactly show them a good time. So...boooo.
And third on the bummer front...we had our first swim lesson scheduled for yesterday after weeks of waiting and storm cancellations! Not exactly awesomesauce to greet the lovely new swim instructor looking like death warmed over, but...oh well. Whaddya do?
Luckily, after a bit of a rocky start (Little Man trying to negotiate his way out of full-head submersion underwater, and Chicklet having to take not one but two bathroom breaks during her session), things picked up, ha.
By the end, I was feeling so happy that each kiddo is getting some one-on-one time to try and develop their water skills further. Safety, safety, SAFETY, for the love, is my motto! And they really seem to dig their instructor and were wildly pumped to discover this will be a weekly thing.
So...here’s hoping for less plague come next week, and some fast-acting antibiotics!
Over and out.
Oh—and I adore these adorable pics of the girlies chomping at the bit for their turn for a lesson. :)
This was Chicklet being nice and zen for a bit. Hehe.
Little Man after his lesson and bath. He was tanked.
Practically asleep with his eyes open, ha. I feel ya, buddy. I feel ya.
Side note: we totally let Chicklet have too much activity yesterday after her Wednesday low point, so she kind of tanked again, too. But we’ve been staying in today, trying to be smart, and we’ll play our evening plans by ear.
Happy Friday, peeps.
