“Flat Rain” and Aquarium Fun

So...I always feel unoriginal suggesting a visit to the local aquarium whenever we’re in town to see grandparents, but apparently I need to get over it once and for all, because the kiddos always always love it.

And today was no exception.

In fact, it was such a lovely day to visit, because the place was so low-key and un-crowded, which surprised me, actually. I suppose peeps are already hunkering down with family, or still traveling to their holiday destinations.

So the kiddos were free to roam without lines or people blocking their views, and they were so happy.

And it made it even easier to bring our special guest of honor along for the visit: “Flat Rain,” or so she’s been named:

So...Chica’s little friend from McKinney is working on a Flat Stanley school project. Many of you might have heard of it. Basically, Flat Stanley (who is from a book) travels through the mail to visit friends and have grand adventures (or so I understand, not having read the actual book myself). So Chica’s friend and all her classmates each made their own “Flat” friend, named them, and mailed them to someone of their choosing.

And now we get the honor of bringing “Flat Rain” on all of our adventures for a week or two, taking photographs, and then shipping her back through the mail to school back in McKinney.

It was a fun and silly bit to add to our happy excursion. :)

Glad got a beautiful day and happy kiddos.

:)
