Halloween 2020!

Well, peeps.

I think we can all agree that this year’s holiday season—beginning with Halloween—will look a bit different when all is said and done.

Nothing is easy, and everything seems to come with a giant side of second-guessing, but...with a little bit of finagling, I know my crew can continue to enjoy and celebrate so many beautiful things about this season, within our own personal comfort zone (and that zone is vastly different for every family and individual, everywhere).

For us, with Halloween, specifically, it meant passing on some neighborhood plans that involved a bit of pre trick-or-treat socializing and a food truck scenario that I just couldn’t wrap my head around—despite those plans originally intended to help distance those who were comfortable with being social from those who weren’t. Oye.

In the end, we stuck with simple trick-or-treating with just our family unit, and thankfully, 95% of the houses (who chose to participate) in our neighborhood just left bowls of candy on their porch to allow for no-contact spooky fun. And we wore masks. We’re trying so hard to be part of the solution, not part of the problem, ‘round our casa.

It was an absolutely beautiful night here—not too cold and not too hot—with a gorgeous, perfectly-timed full moon. And I’m just so grateful that my babies were able to make another happy Halloween memory (with all three grandparents, no less!), in such complicated times.

Mario (sans hat), Mulan, ice cream cone, hammerhead shark and hot dog.

I adore that my sweet Chicklet decided to bust out her beloved hot dog for a second year in a row. :) And since my costume is kind of wonky and all covered up in these pics, here it is on the day in arrived...

Here’s my sweet girl putting on a bit of makeup...

And grandparent fun...

All the foodies...

And grandparent coolio light-up necklaces that helped us stay safe from cars on the streets. :)

Happy, sugared-up babies when all was said and done.

Hoping all of you had a safe and sanitary Halloween this year.

And I can’t believe we roll back clocks and power on into November, mañana.

Happy Halloween!

Over and out.
