Gnome Love!

Well, m’peeps.

We did it.

We ripped off the holiday bandaid and put away all of our decorations (eight trees is a lot-a-lot to put away) by New Year’s.

And the only way to deal with that kind of harsh, Christmas-is-over barren wasteland within our casa is to immediately bust out Valentine’s odds and ends.

Yup.

We’re that household.

Always looking onward and upward. Next holiday we can over-celebrate; we’re all over it.

And not a bit ashamed.

Case in point: we enjoyed our inaugural Valentine’s project today. These simple little gnomes (because who knew, but gnomes are apparently all the rage these days).

Chica put hers on a shelf by all her Harry friends...

Little Man’s is on his desk, beneath a slew of superheroes...

And Chicklet taped hers smack dab in the middle of her desk unit, right by her “hugs” sign, hehe.

Oh, and check out our other household gnomes (that I actually found at Homegoods before I found the gnome project at Hobby Lobby; see—all the rage):

Even if it’s way early, I love seeing Valentine tidbits around the casa. It brings me joy.

And do you know what else brings me joy???

My daddy long legs of a growing boy, who informed me two weeks ago that his socks were too small.

And then one week ago, he reported his undies were too tight.

And then two days ago, he tried on four pairs of pants for school, before he deemed a single option even remotely long enough to be wearable, ha.

And to make matters worse, when he put his mid-weight jacket on, the sleeves were two inches too short and he had to tug the fabric down to cover his waist.

So, needless to say...we had to stock him up a bit.

Undies and socks were easy (and in case you’re wondering, the new ones are both Mario themed, ha). Jacket was easy, too.

Pants, were a bit more difficult.

So basically, we just went out and grabbed him three more pairs (in different colors), of one of only two pairs of pants that he deems acceptable.

That’s right.

Amidst a closet-full of clothes, my hilarious boy—who takes after his father in the impossible-to-buy-pants-for category, could not be more picky.

I spent the most riotous twenty minutes this afternoon, forcing him to try on each and every pair (except the ones we knew were too short, which had to go, regardless).

And do you know the kind of responses I got??

Too scratchy.

Too cold.

The zipper down here is itchy.

Ew. I do not like jeans.

I did not buy those.

These I only half like.

Too...(he can’t come up with a word as he pulls at the extra fabric around his thighs that make them too baggy. Apparently.).

My undies feel strange in these.

I mean...if I didn’t love the kid so crazy much, I’d probably be pulling my hair out by now.

But he’s just too, darn cute. And I was cracking up as I watched him.

Apparently, he’s just a boy who knows what he likes and will wear (tight, soft pants). For the record, these are the approved ones, so we now own them in maroon and hunter green as well as this lovely teal:

And these 13 pairs fall under the category of will-not-wear. Ugh.

Note to self and the world: don’t try to buy Little Man pants. It just won’t work.

Counting down the months (maybe just a singular month here in SA) until shorts weather. He’s much more agreeable on that front. ;)

In the meantime, he shall now rotate between the five, slightly-lonely pairs of pants that are approved and left in his closet.

I better not fall behind on the laundry, eh???

Happy Almost Thursday, peeps.

Over and out.
