Hooky For Happy

Well, peeps.

We’ve almost made it.

Tomorrow is FRIYAY. And, man, are we ready!

After yesterday’s whining post, I’m pleased to report a more stable and productive and smiley day, today. :)

And the honorable mention for keeping us all in a positive mindset through the end of the day goes to...shirking our responsibilities.

Ditching our duties.

Letting our hair and windows down.

Driving towards Starbucks, and then home for family carefree fun, instead of responsibly going to dance class after school.

Now.

A few things to note:

First, we love dance class and I don’t want to position it as something we force or try to get away from, ha.

And, second, our round of hooky from said beloved dance class was not premeditated. Life just happened and we rolled with it.

Chicklet hilariously missed her name being called for the school pickup carpool lane, so I was minus a child when I drove up to snatch my babies. Some hilarity ensued where the staff had to track her down and I had to pull over, outside of the carpool line and wait on the location process (only mildly worried that she’d gone missing, ha).

As a result of this hilarity (Chicklet was apparently chatting away with friends when she missed her name being called, ha), we would have arrived late to dance class (on a good day, there’s no time to spare).

So...we took as a time to spend quality time together and just veered off instead. And made a happy, breezy go of it.

As luck—and grandparent blessings—would have it, we had the perfect diversion waiting for us at home, thanks to a package Nanna sent.

Alas, she was scheduled to fly in town for a lovely visit the week of our notorious winter storm, but her flight was cancelled thanks to that snow and ice. And then, the next day, our pipe burst disaster happened and now it’s a no-company-zone around our casa for quite some time.

So...she never got to give the kiddos the little Valentine LEGOs and goodies she’d kindly planned to give them.

So our hookey afternoon was filled with building fun for everyone, and it was a very good thing.

And so was our yummy beef tenderloin dinner. Always a rave review from my kiddos when I make it, ha. ;)

We always go around the dinner table talking about the best part of our day, and tonight, all three babies mentioned the time together and LEGO fun. And that was a lovely way to know that playing hooky was the right move for the day, and a small thing to bring some big smiles.

Happy Almost Friday, peeps!

Over and out.
