Box O’ Rainbows

So…today, the kiddos had a bit more electronic time than I prefer (it happens) after we completed some school work. So when we were nearing our afternoon “quiet time” and I wanted to break up their screen time for a bit, I busted out this fun Tar-jay craft for a happy diversion.

It’s part of that newish line of crafts I’ve really enjoyed. In fact, I purchased a handful of items before summer kicked off, and I’m pretty sure we only have one left.

The box itself is pretty substantial (though I didn’t get a good pic of my own), and for a fairly decent price ($10), you get eight individually-packed crafts.

Now, the cutest bit (that I also didn’t manage to take a picture of) is the punch and reveal that you can do on the back of the box if you want to make your chosen craft a true surprise. Or perhaps just open one project a day if you’re drawing out the fun.

But since there were four of us, and eight projects, we just ripped the box wide open and it was a dibs free-for-all, ha.

The instructions were easy enough that my crazies could generally follow along without my help for each project, and just holler if one tiny thing was difficult.

And I really did love how each craft was rainbow-colored in theme. Very cohesive (again, part of the branding bit that’s well-done with this line of crafts).

Every so often, when my crazies are zoned in to video games or really bingeing on a show they love, they can grumble when I make them turn it all off for some screen-free activity.

But I’m lucky that they all three lurv any sort of project, so their grumbling is always short-lived when they see something out on the kitchen table that will allow them to get their craft on.

We may not have worked our way through all of the crafts I had in mind for the summer, but we’ve definitely made a big dent!

And we’ve for SURE been crafting far more than we’re able during the school year.

So, yay, for a tiny bit of extra creativity.

We have a play date planned for tomorrow, and I think we might forego swimming for once and just play and do a little project I’ve prepared—and maybe even have a kind of movie afternoon.

Looking forward to it—and to hearing about Chica’s fun choir practice in the morning. :)

All good things as the close of summer draws nearer. Everything seems that much more precious.

Happy Hump Day, peeps.

Over and out.
