Chica’s 4th Grade Field Trip!

Well, peeps.

I’ve been feeling extra-sentimental lately.

So many factors are contributing (more on many of them another day), but it certainly doesn’t help to chaperone my beloved eldest’s FOURTH GRADE field trip, and remember like it was yesterday, when she could barely sleep the night before her kindergarten one.

UGH.

These babies of mine just won’t stop growing and it’s squeezing my heart so badly over the past couple of weeks.

I mean, the maturing and changing is wonderful, but every, dang time my phone brings up one of those “on this day three years ago…” things, I want to cry.

Double UGH.

Of course, I can’t stop the passage of time, but I’m insanely grateful to be along and present for the ride.

And extra grateful my eldest still wants—correction: adores—having me around for this stuff. Because I know my days on that front are probably numbered, ha.

Last bit of commentary about today’s specific museum outing: it was so much less intense than precious excursions I’ve chaperoned!

First, the kiddos are just older now, so they’re easier to herd and handle (thanks the heavens!). Second, thanks (but no thanks) to increasing cases of COVID within our area, sooooo many kiddos are out sick from school, so the groups per parent were very small today. I only had Chica and one of her little friends to myself. And it was lovely.

And, third, I’ve just come to know so many more parents—and teachers—as time has gone by, so it’s lovely seeing the same faces pop up time and again as active parents and volunteers. It makes it so much more enjoyable when the adults and the students can connect for these sorts of things.

This one was a really cool sand box area that showed changing topography as the kiddos moved and reshaped to their hearts’ content.

And this pose wasn’t even staged…Chica was standing for a picture when she noticed something on another level and got so excited, tehe:

Anywho.

Another lovely school memory is in the books.

And for anyone interesting in crying down memory lane like me…here are some of our field trip, greatest hits posts:

Of course, all the kiddos missed field trips last year, thanks to pandemic life. But it’s hard to look back and realize that Chicklet’s kindergarten field trip in 2020 took place just weeks prior to lockdown. And merely a week removed from the massive bout of flu she and I suffered. Crazy.

Happy Almost Friday, peeps!

Over and out. :)
