Kauai 2022–Day 5!

Hellooooo, peeps, from back home in San Antonio!

It was a loooong travel day, yesterday—though fairly efficient, with few delays. By the time we landed in Austin, made the drive home and showered and crawled into bed, it was nearly 3 o’clock in the morning. Oof.

To say we felt a little jet-lagged (and the poor hubby woke at 8 a.m. to head to the office!) is a massive understatement.

Hard to believe the night before, we were here:

Knowing how hard we’d adventured, we knew our final day needed to be more low-key and close to the resort.

The morning dawned nice and peaceful…

And after a glorious rain shower, we literally went hunting for a tropical rainbow. A major bucket list item of mine for our trip. Victory!

The hubby ran downstairs and out on the nearest terrace to scout for us, and when he found it, we all scurried out in our pajamas. :)

I was so ecstatic to see one. It faded quite a bit by the time we were out there…

But, then, HOLY COW did it intensify when we changed our position to see the other end of the arch. GLORIOUS.

The crispest rainbow I’ve ever, ever seen. The colors were so dilineated.

Such a lovely way to kick off our final day. :)

Next up…breakfast and wandering on the property.

One of the memories I’ll cherish most about this trip is Chica and her hibiscus love.

The hibiscus is actually her favorite flower, and obviously, they’re everywhere in Hawaii!

On Day 1, she was putting live ones in her hair—until we found some hair clips and earrings and bracelets and necklaces (oh my!) and started stockpiling more and more each day, in a variety of colors. She even lost a tooth on the trip (crazy; it was hardly loose) and the tooth fairy brought her more hibiscus jewelry. ;)

It was the definition of island accessories flair, and though I know she’ll tame it and only wear the earrings and maybe the necklace back home (those pre-teen years, I tell ya), she was sooooo excited to enjoy it all to her heart’s content on vacay.

Photobombing son…

Did I mention we were quite worn out by this final day??? Ha. Swimming and relaxing was the crux of our agenda.

With a tiny bit of tennis thrown in before we lazed by the pools and lagoon.

The hubby snagged us a prime spot for our day, and we enjoyed our final lunch lagoon-side. :) Not a shabby view (and I mean the hubby).

Can’t decide which is more lovely: the view of the daquiri, or my handsome hubby behind it?

We spent so much of our swim time at this beautiful salt-water lagoon that faced the ocean. It was shallow enough to let the kiddos have a bit of leeway and it was a peaceful, Hawaiian vibe.

Next up: a coffee and cookie run and a tiny bit of shopping.

After all that (not to mention, the four days of packed adventure prior), we were WIPED. So wiped, we almost almost ditched our final dinner reservation to order room service.

But then we rallied (in a speedy, five-minute turnaround), and I’m sooooo glad we did. The atmosphere of the restaurant was prime.

And we had happy, pomegranate lemonade-loving, sun-kissed babies…

Some final beach pics outside the restaurant…

My fun labradorite ring I bought (that’s such a perfect green/brown/golden/grey that I named it “Kauai” after the colors of the island)…

And some final pics on the hotel property…

Little Man wanted us to pose for pictures that he would take, and I love this sweet hug one he captured. Perfect ending for our anniversary trip!

It’s going to take some time to process ALL that we saw and did, and I’m sure I’ll have one more post that sums up my thoughts.

But for now, I’ll just say that it was an INCREDIBLE trip filled with oodles and gobs of family time and memories and I’m so grateful.

Back to real-life posting mañana! The school year countdown is ticking FAST.

Happy Almost Friday, peeps!

Over and out.
