Spooktacular Exterior—2022 Style

Okay, peeps.

It’s a well-documented fact that I’m an unabashed, early-and-often decorator—for any season, and any occasion.

I don’t even try to contain my joy each year when the Fall/Halloween decor and merchandise starts hitting the shelves in late July/early August.

So I consider it pretty extraordinary that I’m able to hold off until September 15th-ish (if I’m being generous) before I go nuts with our indoor decorations.

And then I exercise super-duper patience to wait another couple weeks before we go nuts with outdoor hoopla.

Which means the outdoor decorating always falls on Little Man’s birthday weekend—and that makes for a long, labor-intense couple of days. But it’s all worth it in the end!

Oh! And before I scale back for a wider view, look at my pumpkin friend who joined the outdoor fun! The string art project—woohoo!

Okay…backing up for more pics in the lovely, buttery evening light I love so much in this past 18 months since our house has been painted white. :)

We’re officially all spooked out! As of this past Saturday. :)

Now. I should say that one of the things that makes this round of decorating so intensive is that I insist on tackling some yard work and pretty major mulching before we get everything all set up each year for Halloween.

I know mulching in the Fall isn’t exactly standard—but when you live in South Texas, lots of gardening rules fly out the window.

Plus, we have such an insane square footage of mulched area on our property that you kind of have to break it up over Spring and Fall, or it’s completely overwhelming.

For example, this past Saturday, we purchased and spread 75 bags—and that was a “light” round. Typically, we have to buy a palette of 150–and even then, it only covers a decent portion (but not all!) of the front of our property.

So…tackling all the trimming, weeding, mulching, and then decorating this time of year is a tad bit painful—especially when it’s still 90 degrees. Then we’re pretty much crawling by the time we finish all that up, and then have to shift to indoor duty of setting up a giant bday party for Little Man, ha.

Exhausting weekend, to say the least. Which might explain why I’m just now getting to this particular post, five days later, ha.

Anywho…here’s some of our spooky decor for the year. Woohoo!

It’s always such a treat to hear cute comments from friends and neighbors who are tickled to see our decorations pop up. And before long, there will be lots of houses following suit.

Yayyyyyy, for Halloween time!!

Over and out.
