Vero Beach 2023–Day 1

Hellooooooo, peeps! And greetings from…FLORIDA! Or, more specifically:

My dear, dear, DEAR friend, who is the godmother to our crazies, used to live nearby in Dallas. But around the time I was pregnant with Chicklet, we moved to a bigger house just down the road in McKinney, and she moved to…Florida!

It’s so hard to believe she’s been there almost a decade, now. (And that Chicklet is almost a decade old!), but life flies when you’re having fun.

Anywho. It’s been quite some time (like, Little Man wasn’t even three years old) since we’ve been to Orlando and/or down to Vero Beach to see her, and IT WAS TIME.

We flew into Orlando last night and then drove up to Vero this morning, and…

Happy, happy, joy, joy!

It does my heart SUCH good to see her, and she is, and has always been, the hostess with the mostest. Just look at this gorgeous spread!

We filled our bellies and then spent some lovely afternoon time in the pool (it’s a saltwater one; so fun!) on such a perfect, summer day. :)

Look! She has happy figs!

After all the fun swimming, we headed over to the hotel for check in and regroup time…

Then we spent just a bit walking down the beach and getting our bearings for tomorrow.

The water was so warm, and the kiddos were dyyyyying to just dive into the ocean, but Beach Day is tomorrow! In fact, that’s all we’re doing tomorrow. :)

But we still let them play just a teeny tiny bit.

Poor Chica had the same kind of sunscreen/sunburn reaction on her neck that she suffered in Sedona, as well. So strange—especially since she was a champ all week out in the sun (with the same sunscreen) for tennis camp this week. Oye.

Anywho…we’re going to have to keep her neck super protected for tomorrow, and she might have to utilize my hat again. Which is great, since it looks so darn cute on her (even though she really didn’t want to be wearing it, ha).

After the beach prowling, we cleaned up and met for a delicious seafood dinner out—and beachside pics, of course. ;)

So grateful for some quality time with my DEAR friend on her home turf, and we’re looking forward to a happy beach day, tomorrow.

It’s a bummer we only have a quick weekend here, but we’ll TAKE IT and be glad for it!

Happy Saturday, peeps!

Over and out.
