Oklahoma Woolaroc/Pawhuska Day!

Okay, peeps.

Another one of our classic July in Oklahoma summer activities is in the books: our Woolaroc/Pawhuska day!

Who knew when we began this tradition five years ago (hunting for a bison sighting at a different location, actually) that this annual excursion would become a longstanding tradition. But the kiddos love it!

Every year, I’m expecting them to lose interest, but every year, they’re all in and super enthusiastic to enjoy the well-honed rituals of…

The drive through the property with windows down to see the animals.

The picnic lunch and playground fun (while our sweating really ramps up).

The up-close and pet-worthy animals in the small barnyard.

The cool reprieve of the actual museum, and our fill of Native American artifacts/history/artwork.

The half hour drive down the road to Pioneer Woman territory and alllllll the sweets we can eat.

It’s always a long day (usually seven to eight hours by the time you factor in the lengthy drive time), but it’s a joy to spend time in the heart of Osage county and to maintain this tradition the kiddos will hopefully remember well into adulthood.

Gotta give these Texas babies of mine at least a little Oklahoma connectivity!

And now…a picture explosion. :)

Chicklet’s eyes were hurting in the sun…hence my service as her personal shield below. ;)

And for funsies, if you’re interested, here are some past Woolaroc/Pawhuska days:

Planning on a slightly lazier today tomorrow, as it’s our last before we begin the two day trek back home. Until then…Happy Hump Day, peeps!

Over and out.
