Something Wicked This Way Comes (2023 Edition)

Well, peeps.

I’m pretty sure I share a similarly-titled post every year around September 10th-ish, like clockwork. Because apparently, that’s the longest I can hold out before I just gotta start spooking up the house!

Honestly, I’d kind of planned to hold off just a teeny tiny bit longer, because the kiddos have not one but two early release school days this coming week, which are just suuuuper inconvenient and make our days really wonky. So I was going to wait until then to spend some time decorating. BUT…we all collectively caved yesterday, and I’m sorry/not sorry. :)

PLUS. I had a neighbor text me that she’s waiting for our outdoor decorations to appear because she uses it as evidence to get her own hubby to let her decorate. So…apparently, I’ve got to work on the outside sometime soon, because THE PEOPLE DEMAND IT (or so I tell myself, hehe).

Unfortunately, we have a long-standing routine where I make myself do a bunch of yard work before we get to spookify the outside, so…I guess I’m going to be busting my bump whenever I have a spare moment this week, ha.

Worth it.

Just like it was worth it to spend a bunch of time on my feet and doing lots of extra work yesterday to make our house happily haunted. :)

There’s nothing better than sitting back in our decked-out living room (with football on the TV for the hubby, ha) to make me feel like this glorious season of the year has ARRIVED (if only the weather could get that memo, uuuuugh).

Hysterically, we had a very unexpected and crazy round of thunderstorms last night around 10 p.m.

We’ve had SO LITTLE rain over the past four months that it was extra startling—and exciting.

We even lost power for a short couple of minutes, and I would have originally panicked, but we had the fantastic ambiance of our spooky, light-up Halloween trees to keep it from being too dark, and it was just the kind of creepy atmosphere you want—as long as the lights eventually flicker back on, ha—when you’ve just busted out your decorations.

Supposedly (I’ll believe it when I feel it!) our temps might get down to 90 (shockingly chilly, I know) later this week, and the excitement surrounding that prospect is real.

Believe it or not, as soon as the light starts changing—like it already is—and the temps dip below about 95, it doesn’t feel as fun to be in our particular pool. So…this evening we’re going to enjoy one final round in case it’s our last!

Someday, it would be lovely to install a heater so we can swim throughout the year if we want to go through the time and effort of heating it. But…that’s a thought for another day!

For now: happy SPOOKY Sunday, peeps!

Our weekend was pretty busy with kiddo playdates and the launch of Chica’s new Confirmation-related Sunday School today, that changed up our routine a bit. And this week ahead is looking to be a packed one, as well. But it’s all good and happy things, so I’m just hoping we can keep our energy up!

More mañana, peeps.

Over and out.
