National Pet Day—2024!

Okay, peeps.

I felt like a giddy new member to the club, celebrating National Pet Day, today!

And I just so happened to mosey outside with my girl around 7:30 a.m.—just after the kiddos were at school, when the light was so heavenly, and the honeysuckle so fragrant—and we captured some really lovely, on-the-fly pics :)

This day truly felt like a bit of a full circle moment, as I can so clearly remember last year, and the sad emotions it stirred for the kiddos (who were still campaigning, hard, for a dog).

It’s tradition for children to bring pictures to our elementary school to display along a prominent corridor for this National Pet Day, and last year, the best I could do was print out pictures of the kind of pet they hoped to have.

So printing off actual pictures of our real life Coda was glorious.

This is the one Little Man chose…

And this is the e-mail I got from his teacher, approximately twenty minutes after he arrived at school, ha:

And this is the picture Chicklet chose…

And here’s her hysterical, I’m-not-awake smile when it was 6:45 a.m. and we were trying to finish getting ready, tehe:

I can’t believe I’ve turned into this person who adores this dang puppy o’ mine so much.

She is both my therapy dog and the reason I need therapy.

She is the best, most exhausting, most loving, most joyful, most exasperating adddition to our family, and I love her SO MUCH.

Happy National Pet Day, 2024!

Over and out.
