It’s been one of those beatdown kind of weeks. Big time.
This time, last weekend, I was coming off a brutal, 48-hour stretch of viral stomach plague that took me so badly down and out that I legitimately don’t remember about a full day and a half, as I had to be knocked out, prescription-wise.
Then, Monday, the kiddos had an early release school day and I had to pull up my big girl panties and power through with very little energy and stamina.
Tuesday (Election Day), and, well, we all know how that went. I had to pull up my big girl panties even higher while all of my babies were off school the entire day.
Wednesday, I dug deep to chaperone a long field trip day for my Chicklet (more on that later), who I kept my beady eye on, because…
By Thursday, late evening, she’d tanked with massive congestion and fever. No strep, thank goodness, but her viral panel popped positive with one identifiable bug. She’s gone through about 273 boxes of Kleenex (so far) and been so weak she won’t even stand for a shower, so bathing it is.
Luckily (and I use that phrase entirely ironically), we rounded out the week with a Friday kicker: Little Man falling ill, fast and hard, and eventually throwing up the contents of approximately three adults’ stomachs…on the top bunk of Chicklet’s bed, no less.
I’ll spare you all the gory details and just say that it was NO cupcake to clean up, and led to massive amounts of Lysol, bleach, and laundered sheets and blankets.
He was my bed buddy last night and, needless to say, we didn’t feel well rested by morning.
DESPITE ALL THIS (or maybe, because of it), the hubby and I were ridiculously productive today, while we stuck close to the nest.
Garage cleaning, Halloween decorations stored, Christmas trees exploding everywhere, a donation run, and…we feel pretty exhausted and broken but needed a productive win.
By force, we’ll all be home tomorrow, and I’m hoping my babies can start making even a tiny bit of improvement.
I’m behind on so many posts, so here’s hoping for the chance…someday soon!
Over and out.
