We woke to a moderate dusting that thrilled the kiddos—especially since they’d known since noon the prior day that school would be canceled.
Honestly, I kind of appreciate Mother Nature’s timing on this one. Stretching out a three-day-weekend just one more day felt like a luxury.
Unfortunately, I gotta admit: I was in a pretty heinously foul mood, all day.
It is what it is. It just happens, sometimes.
I have no doubt that three migraines in five days, plus some really unsettling sleep turned me sour.
No surprise, there. Can’t really help the migraines—especially when they’re brought on by these intense weather swings. And I’m not sure I can do much to help the unsettled sleep, either, considering I never rest well when we have an overnight freeze (or several days of them). There’s just too much lingering worry and trauma from our burst pipe disaster a few years ago.
Anywho.
The bottom line is this: I’m grateful for the extra day, and tickled that it brought my kiddos some joy, but I’m also a little bummed I wasn’t a bit more happy-go-lucky, so I could take advantage of that gifted time.
Again…it is what it is, and, now, onward and upward! Coda girl capped off a run of some meh days by keeping us up alllll last night with some digestive trouble (this stinking, adorable, delicate pup), so I’m still not better rested, yet, but…
Tomorrow is a new day. It’s already Thursday (woohoo!) and at least I caught some cute snow pics of my kiddos—fur and human—amidst my crankiness, ha.
Side note: if you love Chica’s curls in the above pic (as I do!), stay tuned for a cute hair-focused post sometime soon!
Lastly, on this cold weather, tanked-mood front: we had a bit of a leak scare in the afternoon before the temperatures dropped, and it never fails to surprise me how quickly those kinds of events take me back to a stressful and dark time.
Long and short: we have some busted irrigation pipes that likely occurred during our turf installation. It’s been a thing for a bit, and has been tended to and repaired, but, apparently, not well enough!
On Saturday afternoon, I discovered (by complete fortuitous chance) a significant leak trailing from the upper tier of our backyard into the lower. And it was a lotta water. We had a little swamp area happening. Scary.
When the hubby went to turn off the irrigation valve (per our amazing irrigation guy’s instructions), the valve sprung an unrelated leak at the curb, and…ugh. We had to frantically shut off the water to the house and wait with bated breath while our amazing contractor came by.
It’s not fixed, yet. The only possible solution at the time was to keep the system completely shut off, so…yeah. Not great for the nerves and the worries in the hours leading up to a freeze event.
Anywho...this, too, shall pass! Tonight’s the final freeze night and then better sleep will be had.
More soon, peeps!
Over and out.
