Teacher Appreciation—Apple Style!

Helloooo, peeps, from the flip side of the weekend!

Normally, I’d be a bit bummed to launch a Monday, but honestly, things were so busy last week—and even part of the weekend—that I was kind of glad to be back in the routine of a weekday.

This week seems (seems; key word, there) like it might be a bit more tolerable, though we launch Little Man’s birthday festivities this coming weekend, and there’s a slew of our normal busyness between now and then, so I’m probably just delusional, ha.

But at least I offloaded a few additional projects I had on my plate last week, including..this adorable Teacher Appreciation gift I pulled together for our elementary school:

Despite how I might appear, I am so not as active as a handful of amazing women within our district, who give an insane amount of their time. Like, full time job amount. I do a ton, but I prefer to bob and weave, avoid holding an official PTA board position, and maintain my freedom to say yes or no to things as they arise.

Seriously— following a really (really!) brutal last year, in terms of feeling overwhelmed, I’m trying my best to guard my time and mental health as much as I’m able.

To that end, I’ve said no to a handful of things, but in order to avoid a much heftier request that was sent my way, I agreed to handle the next three months of Teacher Appreciation events.

This month’s assigned theme was apples.

An apple bar with chocolate and caramel sauces had been done in the past, but honestly, that felt like a lot of work, and something that had to be manned in real time, and I wasn’t so excited about that.

So…I went a bit rogue, preferring to spend more of my efforts purchasing and assembling individual apple/and-caramel-sauce goodie bags from the comfort of my home. Then package them up all cute-like so I could drop it all and run! (To be fair, by the time I set things up in the Teachers’ Lounge on Friday, I’d been up to the school four times for various things throughout the week and I was ready to be done.

But I love how everything turned out. The printables I laminated and attached to the bags were so cute and tied the whole theme together.

As a special treat, I snuck a Starbucks gift card in a few of the bags, for anybody lucky enough to “pick” a good apple. :)

And if you can believe it, I found the apple basket, for one dollar, and it put the finishing touch on the whole shebang. In total, there were about 60 goodie bags for teachers and staff, and they made the basket look so plentiful.

Of course, it wasn’t all as cute set up in the dreary school space as it was in portrait mode with green turf in my backyard, ha.

But I added some apple cinnamon Kind bars and some Brach’s caramel apple candies to the spread for anybody who might be apple averse. And I smiled when I saw this little note show up in the newsletter for this week. :)

Oh, and one last use of my time before I stuck a fork in this one (literally and figuratively)…banana apple bread! I had to use the surplus apples somehow. ;)

Okay. Monday down, with more days to go!

Hoping for a busy but stable Tuesday!

Over and out.
