A Mother's Lap

A few months before Chicklet was born, I bought a few big sister/new baby books for Chica to help pave the way.

One, in particular, I really love because it enforces the truth that there's always room on Mama's lap.

Well, I love the book (by Ann Herbert Scott) even more now that I've had to find ways to make room, so to speak, in the early afternoon before nap time, which is one of the neediest parts of both my girls' days.

If I time it right, I can nurse Chicklet and secure her in the Bjorn, then scoop Chica into the rocker beside us to read some books and drink some milk.

When it works, it's glorious, and when it fails, it's disastrous--like most of our juggling experiments these days.

Lucky for all three of us, it worked today.
