A Little Patio Sprucing

If there’s one area of our homestead (yup, I’m using that word), that we’ve taken the let’s-just-DIY-and-wing it approach, it’s for sure the landscaping and anything to do with the backyard.

I mean, it took us three full years after moving in before we planted the first living thing back there (hello, thriving privet bushes!).

But once we did, I saw the beautiful potential of tiny, baby steps and the fun of messing with it on our own. And now we have three small but tidy, handmade flower beds, and plans for just teensy additions when time and effort allows (be still, my heart, I want a tree or two back there sooooo badly; perhaps in the Fall).

Regardless of my backyard oasis dreams, I sorta dig (hehe, pun intended) that we’ve just been chill about it. Because it makes every tiny thing something to appreciate.

So I sure as heck appreciate the fact that I finally snagged a couple of lovely chairs for the patio. You know, so we can have somewhere to sit. Finally!

I only bought two until I placed them to make sure everything would fit. But now I have an idea for a porch swing I want to add. :)

Oh, and we bought this fun $30 rug from World Market that is not fabric, and uber washable.

I have no idea why I waited so long to buy things that were not at all a big investment. (Maybe I was busy birthing babies for the first few years we lived here, and then keeping them out of the mud for the next year or so—before the convenient flower beds solved that problem, ha.)

But I’m loving our small additions, and I foresee a couple more while the Spring lasts!

Happy Monday, peeps!
