DeLappenings: Our SA House: Before/After

Well, m’peeps.

I think the day has finally come to move this post from the “draft” section to the “live” section on this here blog.

For the past one year and one month (give or take a few weeks), I’ve been keeping before/after pictures within this post, as something to reference on days when I feel frustrated with the state of something within our casa.

Or days when I’m saddened/maddened/exasperated by any number of home-related things that can—and have, in our case—gone wrong. And last night, following our chandelier incident, I felt the need to revisit so many of these images (shocker).

It seems like such a RIDICULOUS thing to think about at a time like this. Why should the decor within a home matter in the least, given this worldwide situation??? And why should anyone—myself, included—care to even read or look at any of this??

Well.

Like so many people out there on the planet, we’ve been spending 99.9% of our time for the past seven weeks within these four walls, so it’s impossible not to think about them—and what they looked like before they were ours.

And because our local stay-at-home orders happened, literally, within the week that we marked our one-year anniversary here (crazy, right?), we missed the opportunity to take stock of that big milestone amidst all the chaos and uncertainty.

So. It’s time to take a moment and appreciate all that we’ve done to this dang, troublesome, wonderful, infuriating piece of property that we call HOME.

And maybe if the house senses my appreciate for it, and the reminders of all the love and attention we’ve showered upon it, then it might stop breaking things!

I like it so much that the hubby always says a house is never “done.” Our needs and tastes and preferences and budgets change all the time. I mean, even some of these pictures that were taken earlier in our renovation process don’t reflect some other additions we’ve made. And they certainly don’t encompass the running list of little nuisances we’d love to tackle.

But for the most part, it’s an accurate (well, if you pretend that everything is always neat and tidy, which it so is not) representation of our space.

And it’s pretty amazing to take a look at all of the before and after pics. So I hope you enjoy the scroll-through as much as I do, when I need the reminder of our blood, sweat, tears and funds. :)
