A Burrowing, Decorating Monday

So...my girlies went to school without wearing jackets (that were stuffed in their backpacks), and then it plummeted about 30 degrees in two hours (around 1 p.m.), the winds kicked up to about 40 mph, and it got dreary and grey and freezing (obviously), with rain on the way.

So...I grabbed them from school, we played hookie from dance class, and spent the most glorious afternoon/evening, burrowing at home, playing holiday music, continuing to deck these halls, baking brownies, and just being jolly. :)

As I’ve mentioned before, I think it’s been particularly happy, happy, joy, joy to bust out decorations this year, because we had to keep things so contained last year because of the move—and because it’s just extra fun to decorate a new environment for the first time and decide where everything will go.

And it’s been super fun to do it in bits and pieces without any deadline or major stress.

After the zoo on Saturday, we stopped at Hobby Lobby and let the kiddos each pick out a $6 strand of tinsel and a topper for the trees in each of their rooms, and I loved their individual selections. :)

(Oh—and the hubby totally wants a giant, 12-foot tree for the entryway, haha.)

Heeeere’s Little Man’s gold topper and green tinsel...

And Chicklet’s gorgeous silver (with jewel) topper and white tinsel. She’s got like a whole ice queen theme going on, and I lurv it...

And Chica’s red and green tinsel and sparkly gold topper...

I mean, it’s just been such a joy to see them individualize these trees is theirs. :)

Then today, we kept the decorating fun going by busting out our climbing Santa...

And then going for a quick jaunt to Walmart (and, yes, I totally let Little Man stay in his pajamas, ‘cause I’m a classy broad like that.)

Then home to put some garland on the stairs...

And then, post-school, more ornament unpacking (lots of our playroom tree ornaments from past years that I let the kiddos divvy up and bring to their rooms...

Then...brownies!

First there was one...

Then there were two...

And...three. ;)

Yummy spaghetti for dinner and play time with Daddy once he got home, and we scored it a pretty awesomesauce Monday.

All in the name of holiday cheer.

Tomorrow will be some focus on our giving of the season—shopping for our Angel Tree kiddos, and my nuggets are actually pretty pumped.

More maƱana.

Over and out.
