Progress! (Ortho and Otherwise)

Oh my heavens, peeps.

Today, for the very first day in the past three months, I can finally start to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

It really, really feels like we’re honing in on the end of this winter storm disaster restoration.

The interior painters have been here for a solid week, following the carpentry work on the baseboards and crown moulding, and they’ve completed about 90% of the work.

Honestly, all that’s left are the touch ups and final things that won’t be tackled until after the kitchen is put back together, and it is glorious to walk around and see more that’s completed than incomplete.

Tomorrow should (SHOULD, but that’s a dangerous word) be cabinet installation day, but I won’t be holding my breath, ha.

Regardless...we’ll be having some wonderful front porch work done tomorrow (more on that another day), so it will be a day of progress with or without the cabinets.

So bottom line: there is absolutely no reason (at this time) why we shouldn’t be able to clean hardwood floors and move furniture back in—finally!—this weekend.

What a fantastic Mother’s Day treat (and major chore, ha.)

Anywho.

The other major but of visible progress for the day: Chica had her final orthodontic checkup before her expander will be removed in about 8-ish weeks!

Here’s the original post with the backstory, when her expander was placed last June:

Now, despite this being an absolute mouth full of metal, Chica has handled it like a total champ.

She acclimated so well after it was put in, she handled the regular rounds of actual jaw expansion without complaint, and she got an A+ dental report that she’s been brushing so well around the device and keeping her mouth and gums healthy.

And, truly, she lucked out with the best year ever to tackle this orthodontic work, because her face mask is on so much that most of her friends don’t even know she has it (not that it would matter if they did!).

But has it actually worked???

ABSOLUTELY. Without a doubt.

I thought it would be a fun time to look at some before and after pics to see what an amazing amount of space this device has helped to create in her mouth.

For once, it’s so nice to see very clear evidence of money well spent!

Amazing.

She’s absolutely perfect and gorgeous both before and after, but I’m so grateful we’ve given her teeth some room to stay happy and healthy!

More tomorrow on the massive mulch work we’ve been doing in the yard, and Little Man’s totally adorable pre-K performance today.

Until then...

Stay healthy, stay sane, peeps.

Over and out.
