I’ve been through the wringer over the past 36 hours. We had this glorious Halloween and then I woke at 2:30 a.m., exorcist-style vomiting and remained that way through more hours than I care to recall.
It.
Was.
Brutal.
Every part of my body feels like it’s been pummeled with a sledgehammer and I can’t remember much of the past two days.
However. I’m so so grateful that this heinous illness didn’t hit until a few hours after one of our favorite holidays of the year. We were able to mark another happy Halloween, full of all the traditions we’ve come to love, and that’s a major blessing, for sure!
And, look! Nanna’s in town!
I give you our sorceress…
Our grim reaper…
And our vampire (hysterically, without fangs, because, braces)…
Nanna and I were Squishmallows (a dragon and and a fox) and when I say these were the most comfortable costumes, EVER, I am not at all exaggerating. The best.
For nearly all the years we’ve lived here, it’s been tradition to have some pre-trick-or-treating pizza down the street at our neighbor’s house before we launch, and I love this particular element of our evening. The kiddos always look forward to seeing their buddies all dressed up, and then it makes it seamless to launch to the streets all in one happy gaggle of kiddos:
Coda girl even got to come along this year and behaved so well. I was wildly impressed with her ability to handle the crowds and chaos. :)
I think this Halloween might forever be remembered alongside the violent illness that struck me just a few hours later, but I’ll lean into the gratitude side of things, that we made it through all the official fun before I was taken down and out!
Okay, I’ll end with some bonus pics of the sugar cookies we made on Wednesday before the big day. More as I’m able, peeps.
Over and out.
