We are now, officially, 12 weeks post-op, after Coda puppy’s insane total hip replacement, and what a journey it’s been!
Monday, she had her sedation and radiographs to check on her ongoing progress, and what an incredible difference to see a side-by-side comparison.
Just, LOOK!
In particular, note:
How off-kilter her hip and leg bones were on the prior x-ray (right), due to the lameness in that leg and the damage to the hip. And, now, so LEVEL and straight!
And, also, look what incredible muscular growth she’s gained over these past weeks since we began her physical therapy.
Her poor little legs were so atrophied—especially her injured side, and now she’s healthy and strong! We’ve been working those quads, big time, with walks (and more walks!) and play and sitting exercises and hills, and it shows!
No joke, this has been a PROCESS. Physically, financially, mentally…so taxing on her and us and just absolutely a defining situation of our lives over the past six months.
But it finally feels like we’ve made it to the other side. :)
I had no idea what was in store when we made the family decision to bring this pup into our lives. And that’s probably a good thing! Because no sane person would sign up for this level of difficulty.

But our girl is absolutely a bundle of unconditional love and happiness and incredible energy.
She’s priceless, without question.
And, just like my human kids, I have and will continue to move heaven and earth to give her the best possible life.
Good thing she’s obsessed with me. ;)

I don’t think we’ll ever watch her jump or be wild and crazy without harboring some anxiety, and we’ll certainly have to keep a close eye on this cutting-edge press fit, micro-implant as she ages.
But, for today, I’m counting this as an incredible VICTORY to have made it through the worst.
Amen, HALLELUIAH.
More mañana, peeps!
Over and out.
