And how, might you ask, am I currently in NYC???
Welp.
It’s been a packed day, so I’ll give you the short version: I grew up a ballerina, older bro has always loved the ballet, as well, and we’ve jointly always kept a showing of the NYC Ballet’s Nutcracker at Lincoln Center as a bucket list item.
Well…older bro and his hubby were planning to make this their year to see The London Ballet’s version of the Nutcracker, because they were living in Europe. But when they returned stateside this Fall, a bit earlier than expected, they set their sight on NYC Ballet instead, and it was hard to pass up on the chance to join in.
Right as I was pondering the trip, the hubby was returning from a quick football weekend away with his dad, so it seemed like a fun you-did-yours, now I’ll-do-mine kind of bucket list situation, which is pretty rare and unheard of, for us.
I’m not gonna lie: I was quite anxious leaving the hubby and kids for the weekend, as I never (like, ever) travel without them. But I’m here with my mom, older bro, and his hubby, and it’s precious time to make memories among the four of us.
Okay. A gazillion pics are below of allllllll the things we did after our midday arrival. We packed it in—and leaned hard into the touristy vibe!
Carriage ride through Central Park, Rockefeller Center for views and the new Beam excursion, an amazing dinner (Fig & Olive) ice skating in Rockefeller Plaza (I mean…can you get more epic??) and a whole bunch of sightseeing among it all :)
This is the MAJOR moment older bro and his hubby realized they just bought a house! (Much more on that, later!):
What a wonderful holiDAY.
It was ALL so classic that it’s hard to isolate a favorite. But I gotta say that it was totally surreal actually skating in the iconic rink just below the famous Rockefeller tree. And we even witnessed a proposal! The smell of the crisp ice, the beautiful views, the feeling of deja vu from a lifetime of movies set in that very location…so grateful.
So excited for the ballet tomorrow—and so grateful for our packed schedules as it helps keep my mind off my family I’m missing.
More mañana, peeps!
Over and out.
