Summer Bucket List: Six Flags!

Okay, peeps.

What a weekend we’ve had! Chica’s final choir concert (and presidential appointment!), Little Man’s championship basketball game, and…a summer bucket list trip to…

Six Flags!

Sometime this coming week, I’ll share a larger post about our summer intentions, but the highlight is this: I’m planning to bring back our big, beautiful summer vibes, after a kind of wonky 2024 summer.

2025 is going to be classic (if I can help it!), and will include a whole slew of summer bucket list items that we haven’t enjoyed in ages, haven’t had time for in ages, or just haven’t dreamt up, before!

It was kind of a no-brainer to put Six Flags at the top of our bucket list, since we haven’t been since our first summer here…SIX YEARS AGO, when our babies looked like this:

Where do the years go???

Now. If you’ll recall, from long, long ago…the above pic was taken on the fateful day we actually totaled my car, driving over a curb in the Six Flags parking lot. So the place held a majorly-yucky memory, and I don’t wanna say we avoided it all these years, but…maybe, we subconsciously avoided it?

Welp.

After I experienced the joy of Chica at Sea World with her friends a couple weeks ago for a choir trip, I realized it was high time we exorcised our Six Flags fears so we don’t miss out on some prime joy, so the bucket list item really firmed up—I just wasn’t sure when we might tackle it. Especially considering the onslaught of summer heat.

Luckily, the universe sort of led me straight to the water, so to speak, because one of Little Man’s friends decided he wanted to go to Six Flags with a couple of buddies for his bday, so we just piggybacked on to the occasion and made it a family shebang!

Honestly, we really lucked out with a small, manageable group of us, an overcast day to help with the 97-degree temps, and the right kind of mindset to handle an amusement park.

We were in it to win it, and I’m so happy to report that the day was a SUCCESS! We managed almost six happy hours there, and lived to tell the tale (and didn’t total another car, ha).

Okay…now, pics!

Once we made it home, we decided there was really no better time to launch our backyard swim season, so we threw on our bathing suits and declared summer swim OPEN!

It feels like summer, people. Truly.

I know we have four school days left, but it feels a bit like a technicality.

Unfortunately, with Chicklet’s elementary graduation (!) ahead for us this week, it’s going to be a busy one, but we’re ready for it!

Happy Sunday, peeps!

Over and out.
