Goodness! I finally shared Chica’s baking fun in a post, yesterday, and now it’s time to go in age order and share Chicklet’s happenings of the past week or so!
The Cliff’s Notes:
This week, she’s been enrolled in a really fun and chill art camp with a buddy that takes place at one of our local schools.
It’s a Wicked theme for all the crafts, and talk about a SPOT ON starting point that’s ripe for a slew of creativity!
And, best of all…she’s with one of her dear buddies!
Now, let’s pause for a moment to really zoom in on this pic to talk about another MAJOR happening of last week. Chicklet’s launch of her very own Braces Era!
We’re kind of seasoned in the process, now, since Chica is nearing the end of her orthodontic work (we hope!), so Chicklet had pretty solid expectations going into the process.
She handled it with a pretty stoic and dreading/accepting vibe, thank goodness. Even had a little countdown going and made sure to take some sill pic pre-braces. :)

As with Chica, she’s starting with just the top braces for a few months, until they get some alignment situated. That made it just a tad easier, and Chicklet handled the appointment pretty well.

Luckily, they stage the process and start with just the front 8-10 teeth, in terms of brackets, and a thinner wire, and, then, next appointment, they’ll add the molar brackets and a thicker (read: more painful!) wire.

Chicklet was wonderful the first day, but refused any pain meds…until 2 a.m., when she woke in a significant amount of discomfort and finally gave in. She the next two days dealing with a lot of pain and tenderness, but by day 3/4, was pretty solid. Whew!
As with Chica, I’m so glad I had the foresight to make this happen over the Summer, to get our girl used to the feel and the process.
So…onwards and upwards with another wave and another kiddos in orthodontia!
My only request for the orthodontist: please don’t make me have THREE in braces as once! Spin the eldest off before the youngest begins, ha. But that’s a story for another post—considering Chica has to have another tiny surgery related to her teeth in the coming weeks. OYE.
Okay. Now. Back to art camp…
Chicklet was so excited to see this buddy of hers all week—especially since they hadn’t synced up in person, this Summer. And she was even a little proud to show off her new braces. :) They were so sweet and happy to be together.
As luck would have it, when we enrolled the girls in the camp together, they originally selected a baking-themed one. A cookie bake-off that sounded amazing!
Unfortunately, we got a call just a week ago that the school didn’t have enough kiddos enrolled and had to cancel that camp. Boooo.
The girlies were disappointed but quickly pivoted to ANY camp that would let them spend some time together this week, ha. And art camp it was!
The theme has been absolutely amazing! I love, LOVE seeing what Chicklet brings home each day, and she’s enjoyed the instructors.

As a bonus bit of fun for Chicklet this week…I arranged for her little friend to come over one day to hang out before camp so they could do some baking on their own. :) They were cute little chefs and then snuggled upstairs for some movie watching, and all was happy and well.

I luuuuurv her silly, exaggerated braces smile, ha:
As I’ve mentioned a gazillion times (and it feels especially true this Summer), it’s so hard to juggle all three of my crazies and ensure they’re each getting their own special activities, events, and time with me—and their friends!
It’s a constant ticker tape in my mind and I just try to pull the levers the best I’m able and focus on each kiddo in rotation, and…here’s hoping I’m accomplishing that in any small way!
So, YAY, to Chicklet marking another tween milestone by launching her braces era, and double YAY for having a fun week with a friend.
All. Good. Things.
My girl is about to be home from her last art day, Chica is about to head to her final baking class, and Little Man is feisty, as always. ;)
I’m SO looking forward to downshifting next week and having a slightly slower pace (I hope!), and recharging a bit, this weekend (I really hope!).
Tomorrow, I’ll share a post about my time with my SON this week, when the girlies have been away!
Happy freaking FRIDAY, peeps!
Over and out.
