Mother/Son Summer Time

Goodness, peeps.

Where do the days go???

It’s been nearly a week since the events of this post I’m going to share, but I guess we’ll file that under better late than never, amiright??

Also, it’s kind of funny/ironic that I’m sharing a post about finding quality time with my son, when I’m currently having not-so-quality time with him at a doctor’s appointment. Boooo. Maybe we’ll file that under beggars can’t be choosers, ha.

Anywho. Back to the topic at hand.

As I’ve shared, the past two weeks were sort of the pinnacle of the kiddos’ summer activities. Lots of fun things, LOTS of driving, since those fun things were far away, and lots of juggling who/what/when/where.

Little Man obviously got his time to shine with his Spurs basketball camp, but then last week, he was definitely on the back burner while the girlies’ activities took priority, and I found myself kind of missing him. Silly, I know, but, true!

So…I decided to take advantage of one of the evenings I was assigned to both the drop off and pick up of Chica’s baking camp. I hauled Little Man along for a Mother-Son date while Chica was doing her baking. :)

Per Little Man’a request, our time was first spent at…Bas Pro Shops, ha.

I always forget about the lovely property. :)

It’s always kind of a wonderland inside…

This time, the big bit for us was the laser target practice. It was a lovely luxury of time and coins to just get $10 worth and go nuts with game after game.

I might have been the winner a few times, tehe. But Little Man was pretty competitive, too!

We’ve been on a big playing card kick since our Summer vacations, so after Bass Pro, we popped into Target for a deck (alas, I’d left ours at home), so we could play some war while we ate dinner.

It was a rushed meal, since we’d spent so much time in Bass Pro, but it was a real joy to have any solo time with my boy. :)

And, yes, because I’m a sucker, we can home with a remote controlled shark for the pool, ha. Niiiiice.

It’s really hard, sometimes, to feel like you’re doing nothing but catering to your kiddos’ schedules, but still feeling like you’re not getting the quality time with them that you crave. That’s definitely been the vibe of our Summer, unfortunately.

But I guess I’ll just continue to try to do what I can to find those pockets of time, whenever, wherever, and be grateful for what I get!

Okay…still waiting at the doctor’s office, ha. But I’ll end with some bonus pics of another tiny little pocket of doodling time with my boy a few days ago:

Happy Tuesday, peeps!

Over and out.
