Hellooooo, peeps, from the flip side of Chicklet's Confirmation weekend!
The culmination of a year of Wednesday Confirmation sessions, Sunday School, Sermon Notes, Memory Verses, Retreats, and...A Pastoral Interview!
I've got to say, my beloved middle-born is not one for pomp and circumstance, or posed photos, and she's always been pretty solid and affirmed in her faith, so all of this was definitely just the the formality that she had to get through.
Still.
I'm so proud of her commitment to slogging through it all, finding joy in the connections she made along the way, and handling the intimidating bits (like the pastoral interview!) with her customary, unruffled vibe.
The actual week of Confirmation involved a formal Banquet (Monday) to celebrate the Confirmands, a rehearsal (Tuesday), the actual Ceremony Day (Saturday), and then a recognition at all three church services the following day (Sunday).
By the end of it all, my girl was definitely ready to revert back to her pajama-d state and decompress for what little weekend remained, but it was a joy--at least for me, as a parent--to know that we now have two young adult kiddos who have gone through the process to affirm their faith. It feels monumental--to me, at least. To Chicklet, it feels much the same as before she was Confirmed, and...I kind of love that!
Okay, here are the pics from the Banquet...
And here's our quick brunch the morning before the actual event (on Saturday)...
And...the presentation of the Confirmands on Sunday! I was permitted ONE photo of Chicklet (I cheated and took two in quick succession; one close up and one zoomed out, ha) and ONE photo with grandparents. Then I had to beg for ONE family photo once we were all home. Precious few, but great ones!
As a fun Saturday night treat, the women headed to a dine-in showing of The Devil Wears Prada 2 (complete with my Cerulean sweater, of course!) while the men went to golf, and I was so glad to sit for a couple hours and just enjoy something light and happy!
I'm so grateful that Chicklet is all official, that she's always had such a strong faith to begin with, and that family was able to be here to witness the occasion.
Lots more happening this week, as MAYhem is upon us, so more catch-up posts, soon!
Happy Hump Day, peeps!
Over and out.
