Reaper Birthday Doodle!

Okay, peeps.

How has it been six days since my last post???

Goodness, we had a doozy of a schedule this week—along with some unexpected thumbs-down events (more on those, later), one of which was…

Little Man home sick for two days. :(

And on his official birthday, no less!

Though, if you can believe it (and I’m sure you can, if you’ve followed along with the germs on this here blog long enough), it was not his first birthday home sick.

At least we managed to spend a couple chunks of lovely quality time together throughout the day. Like for this epic reaper/reaper doodle! :)

But to rewind…it’s no surprise that Little Man followed up his epic birthday party with something viral percolating. I’d been watching him for days, especially knowing his timing for the sudden onset of croup (almost always in late September/October).

Welp. My beady eye decided it was time to start him on his inhaler after school on Wednesday. Then, a couple hours later, I bumped him up to his breathing treatments. And, of course, right on schedule, an hour or so later, I heard the first seal/bark cough and immediately launched the steroids to keep his airways open.

On the one hand, it’s fantastic that this ain’t our first rodeo, and we totally know what needs to be done. On the other hand, it’s kind of a bummer that he’s still suffering from these bouts (in my strong Mama gut opinion, they occur when he’s peak allergy season and happens upon a virus of some kind).

Oh, well. It is what it is.

We totally nipped it in the bud and his cough is already processing to the productive stage, so he’s working his way through it. And I’m also so glad we have all the medications on hand.

Other than a Chick-fil-A breakfast run, he spent most of the morning camped out in the couch. Then, around 11 a.m., he popped up with a, “hey, Mama, we can do a doodle if you want,” and I was on that so fast I left dust in my wake.

We just don’t have the chance very often for doodles, and I didn’t want to let the moment pass us by!

Knowing his chosen Halloween costume, it was PRESH-US when he found this cute little reaper.

And, naturally, the best photo op in the world. :)

It really was a bit of a rollercoaster week, but I’m proud we worked our way through it and had an epic—EPIC—evening hosting a gaggle of kids over at the house last night.

More on that later. For now, I’m just glad we still have one more day of the weekend, ‘cause I NEED IT!

Happy Saturday, peeps!

Over and out.
